Our Story
RS Diversified's roots go back to the early 1970s in Washington State, where founder Rubin Salant and his wife Ruth Salant began their real estate career managing apartment buildings across the greater Seattle area under the name R&R Services.
The company's first major milestone came when Rubin negotiated a condominium conversion of West Beach Apartments — 102 units across four buildings — at a time when the market had yet to embrace condominium living. A previous attempt by another firm had failed. Rubin proposed not only to convert the property but to sell 80% of the units within nine months — the threshold required to secure construction financing and mortgage approval for buyers. He succeeded, and West Beach Condominiums was his first major success.
That momentum launched a decade of development across the Pacific Northwest. Working with building partner Enrico Mora through their company Condominium Builders, Rubin developed projects throughout the Seattle area and beyond — including Alki Bonair on Alki Beach, South Shores and Redondo Beach in Des Moines, Juanita Bay in North Seattle, Tall Firs in Federal Way, Bayview in Tacoma, Northgate Plaza, and apartment buildings in Tukwila and Olympia. The work eventually extended as far as Texas.
In 1987, Rubin formally incorporated RS Development in Washington State. As the portfolio expanded beyond development into a broader range of commercial and residential holdings, the company was renamed RS Diversified.
Today, proudly women-run under the leadership of Rubin's daughters — Camille Kanofsky, Robin Salant, and Renee Salant — RS Diversified is still guided by the values Rubin established at the start. We invest with purpose, lead with integrity, and strive to create lasting impact across every venture we support.
